Feeling Stuck!!

stuck2Is anyone else feeling stuck?

Are you stuck in a thought, in a job, or in a life style you seriously no longer care to be in? (Moving on from relationships deserves it’s own post!)

No? It’s just me?

One of the best things I can do when I start feeling like this is to read one of my old journals.  I mentioned that I felt the need to do this recently, and as I have picked up the books, I am at times bewildered –who is this person writing in my journals? Sometimes I’m mortified by her actions, other times I am a little jealous of her confidence and still other times all I want to do is reach out and hug her tightly.  In those moments I realize that as slowly as I am moving;  I am moving.  Compared to me, snails look like they are in the fast lane.  As much as I feel like I’m in a hole…my feelings might be lying to me.

So, let’s say you haven’t kept journals, and looking at old pictures causes you more pain than hope.  Let’s believe  on the off chance that there is someone out there who also feels stuck, or perhaps it isn’t even a feeling anymore maybe you truly are JUST STUCK. Here are 3 ideas.

Write an email to yourself in the future.   Tell yourself exactly what you are feeling right now.  Note what you feel is the worst thing that can happen. Note what you feel is the best thing that can happen. Write a prayer.  Ask God for some guidance. Give yourself some encouraging words, and then send that email to come to you in the future.  Be as specific as you can.  It is delayed gratification, but fun to get a letter from your past self.bad day

Roll up your sleeves and help someone in need  Sometimes the reason why we are stuck, or feel that we have become stuck is we have become used to our surroundings.  Maybe if we spent time with someone who would be happy to have even one of our bad days= we might have a different perspective on life.  Seek someone out.  Sometimes, something as simple as saying good morning with a smile on your face can help someone.

Dive into the Word.  You know,  that song that goes – Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path?  This is true.  Need some guidance?  Turn on the light!  The Bible reaches out a hand.  Here are some Bible verses that encourage us to move on – with God.

Isaiah 43:18-19 (ERV)

So don’t remember what happened in earlier times.
Don’t think about what happened a long time ago,
because I am doing something new! Now you will grow like a new plant.
Surely you know this is true. I will even make a road in the desert,
and rivers will flow through that dry land.

Isaiah 40:31 (NLT)

But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength.
They will soar high on wings like eagles.
They will run and not grow weary.
They will walk and not faint.

Proverbs 23:17-18 (ERV)

Never envy evil people, but always respect the Lord.  This will give you something to hope for that will not disappoint you.

Philippians 1:6 (NLT)

And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.

Philippians 4:6 (ERV)

Don’t worry about anything, but pray and ask God for everything you need, always giving thanks for what you have.

So if you’re feeling a little stuck, talk to a trusted friend, talk to your pastor, talk to me, but most importantly – talk to God.  He hears, can help us and never sleeps.

It might be time to move on, but we don’t have to move on alone.

March is MS Awareness Month!

Happy MS Awareness Month! I will be sharing a bit more about MS as the month goes on.  Something I have learned since my diagnosis is how little people know about MS. Even medical personnel find it a puzzle.
The more we can learn, the more we can teach!

This video is less than 3 minutes and is chock full of information. It’s been a while since it was first released, perhaps 3 years or so, and I think it’s safe to say that all of the numerical figures have increased.

I think, especially in this day and age, people have a difficult time caring if they aren’t affected. Unfortunate, but true. I don’t know how much I would know about MS if it hadn’t affected me.

You won’t be sorry you watched it!

MS Awareness is still a month Nationally– March but it’s celebrated this  week here (NYC)  I will celebrate MS awareness this month on my blogs.  Where’s my orange shirt?
