Today’s Reading: Luke 1:46-48
It is one of the most somber Christmas songs that we have (I believe). Israel had repeatedly proven themselves unworthy of this God who cared so dearly for them, and yet He makes the promise we see in Isaiah 7:14:
“…the Lord himself will give you the sign. Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son and will call him Emmanuel (which means ‘God is with us’).”
Fast forward a few hundred years and here is Mary who knows that this promise from God is not only true, but He has chosen her to be a part of its fulfillment. After all the wrong the Israelites have done to God, He makes and fulfills this promise to them, Jesus is on the way! Wouldn’t you praise too? Sometimes, I wonder if I am aware of all of the blessings that God gives me. He not only gives me the blessings that I see, He is also working out things that I have no idea about. Thank you Lord.
Those were great! I’m going to buy a copy on iTunes so I can play it when I’m driving.
