When I was very young, everybody LOVED Michael Jackson, I remember dragging my father all over creation trying to find some Michael Jackson trading cards or stickers…I have no idea why, it’s not like I ever listened to his music! We weren’t allowed to. (I figure I just wanted to be like my friends) I never got the right ones trading cards, stickers – whatever it was, so it didn’t really matter.
I remember we had a rotary phone!
I remember the treasurer of our school came into the classroom and told our teacher of the Challenger disaster. There was such a feeling of sadness, but I didn’t understand why. I went home and had dinner with my neighbors for some reason. It was Spaghetti.
I used to recite the longest poems in church, from my memory. It made my mother happy, perhaps it made me happy to make her happy.
We used to ride our bikes and catch fireflies in the summertime.
My parents had this old fashioned ice cream maker. It was the loudest thing ever, but it made the best ice cream!
When I was 5th grade, the teacher called home to ask what was happening because she noticed I didn’t smile anymore. Yay for observant teachers (My mother became very ill), boo for no poker face on me!
I remember we used to play Sorry, Trouble and Uno! (Does anyone remember those games?)
What are your memorable events? Have you written them down anywhere?
